Charter Board Institute

Save the Date: April 6, 2019, Newark, NJ

Good governance is essential for creating sustainable, high-quality public schools. Charter school trustees in New Jersey face the same challenges and compliance requirements as all board of education members in the state but must also address the additional accountability requirements demanded of charter schools. And they must do so with fewer resources and, occasionally, in the face of anti-charter opposition.

The NJCSA Charter Board Institute provides an ideal forum for charter school trustees to learn from experts in financial management, law, advocacy, communications, policy, and planning, as well as to share with and learn from each other. Multiple sessions will be presented throughout the day that
are guaranteed to provide useful information and offer insights into the art and science of charter school governance.

All sessions will also fulfill requirements towards completion of the NJCSA Model Charter School Board of Trustees Certification Program. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum that is specifically designed for charter school trustees and functions as a complement to mandatory programs offered by the New Jersey School Boards Association.

Registration will be opening soon! For more information contact Rick Pressler at rpressler@njcharters.org.
